About the contest!

Have you ever dreamed of owning a bakery & delicatessen?

Now is your chance!

The entrant whose Letter/Essay is selected as the winner will have the opportunity to purchase our well established business. The purchase price? The contest entry fee.

All the details are in the information that follows on how to enter, and in frequently asked questions section, but here are a few of the highlights

Our well-established business has been operating for over five decades.

The original owners are from Switzerland, and all of our processes and many of our recipes honour that heritage.

The business encompasses a true scratch bakery offering a full selection of breads, sweets, pastries, and desserts. Alongside the bakery, we also offer a full deli selection including lunch service, take-home foods, catering, and assorted savouries. To round out the business we carry a diverse selection of local,  imported and specialty grocery items.

We’re located in beautiful Kamloops in the south central interior of British Columbia.

Why a contest?

We wanted a win win solution for the succession of our business.

Naturally we want to maximize our return on our investment and sweat equity, but we also wanted to find a way for someone to purchase our established, stable business without having to take on tremendous debt. We believe the next owner(s) of our business will have a superior chance of success by avoiding the burden of debt. The business can be more nimble, more opportunistic and respond to changes in the economy far better without the burden of debt normally associated with a business purchase.

We relocated over a decade ago to this community. We were looking for a change of pace, lifestyle and a more connected community. Extensive research over a year kept leading us back to this location. It offered everything we were seeking, large enough to support business, small enough to know your neighbours, decent retail/dining options, endless opportunities for our children; easy access to nature and all that brings with it a community of people willing to engage with others be it through clubs, and associations or volunteer opportunities.
It wasn’t too long after arriving here that we purchased by normal sale/purchase process the business we are now offering by this more unique method of “sale”.

During the planning and preparation phase of this contest the unexpected happened COVID.

We are happy to say that our business is doing well. We restructured in order to absorb the impacts of COVID and it is paying off.
